The Olympics fever is on! Just yesterday I was chatting with Hanqing on msn and we were talking about how cute the olympic mascots are, and how desperately we want to be one. The conversation soon led to how we can ACTUALLY HAVE A CHANCE OF BEING A MASCOT…. at the 2010 Singapore Youth Olympics. Will we have mascots then, though? Hanqing and I took the initiative to design a few “youthful” versions of the current Beijing mascots.

The Ipod Generation
I did the Olympics logo. As for the mascots, Hanqing drew the three on the top row, while I drew the two on the bottom.
“These fuwas are designed based off the Beijing ones. They reflect the “hip and cool” spirit of teens all over the world today. These designs are very friendly and loveable.
Beibei, the fat goth chick. Wears tighty leather clothing all day long.
Jingjing, the iPod-grooving teen. Aspires to be a rockstar.
Huanhuan, the computer nerd who sits at home and blogs about Life as a Fuwa.
Yingying, who loves to go to the new Casino Integrated Resort in Singapore. Boosts the economy.
Nini, generally happy and carefree teen who loves to sing.”quoted from Hanqing via Peabo4eva
These drawings were done by us for pure self amusement on msn using the pen tool, and were really quick sketches… notice how I forgot to use black as an outline, resulting in my Fuwas looking rather washed out as compared to Hanqing’s. ): Okay i shall be off to watch michael phelps…

Pardon the angle that this photo was taken at.. I couldn’t take a direct photo without casting a shadow over the paper. D:
When I worked on this piece I was going crazy, almost literally. It was pure torture shading all those creases. ): I spent about, what, 5 hours on this?? For my hummingbird (refer to previous post) I only took 2 hours. The sad thing is that most people prefer my hummingbird over this… so what can i say T_T
